The Defense Industry Academy participated in TEKNOFEST 2026, held from September 30 to October 4, with a concept stand inspired by the ancient sites of Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe. The exhibit aimed to engage young talent by connecting Turkey’s historical legacy with modern defense education and career pathways.
Why it matters
- It forms part of the National Competence Movement, a national initiative to identify, guide, and develop youth capabilities for the defense sector.
- The design emphasizes the historical roots of human-centered defense strength, linking ancient ingenuity to contemporary technological advancement.
- Interactive zones such as the 'Competence Tunnel', 'Competence Flight', and 'Competence Radar' were complemented by simulations like 'Choose Your Competence' and quiz-based activities including 'My Competence, My Strength' and 'Who Is the Most Competent?'.
- Workshops titled 'Code Name: Future', 'Defense On Duty', and 'Future Me' targeted high school and university students, as well as sector professionals, offering tiered projects aligned with nearly 60 ongoing initiatives under the movement.
The stand reflects a strategic effort to cultivate skilled human resources for Turkey’s defense industry by merging historical inspiration with modern experiential learning. By enabling early engagement between youth and the defense sector, the initiative supports long-term workforce development and national technological sovereignty.
