L3Harris AERIS X: A Next-Generation Airborne Early Warning and Control Solution15 May 2026 · 15:13News

L3Harris Technologies has developed AERIS X as a comprehensive response to an increasingly complex and contested air defense environment. Designed to operate at high altitudes, this business jet-based Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platform stands out with real-time integration with fifth-generation allies and an availability rate exceeding 95%.

AERIS X serves as the flagship of the two-configuration AERIS family. Built on the Bombardier Global 6500 platform, it features a 360-degree dual-band AESA radar that eliminates peripheral blind spots, an operational ceiling of 41,000 feet, and effective tracking capability against both high-speed missile threats and unmanned systems. Its modular open architecture grants allied air forces sovereign control over the platform and the flexibility to upgrade for future requirements.

These capabilities take on particular significance in the context of Canada. Jason Lambert, President of ISR at L3Harris, shared his thoughts following an industry-government event held at the company's Mirabel, Quebec facility on 14th May: "Built on the Canadian-made Bombardier Global 6500 platform, L3Harris' AERIS X solution combines advanced mission systems, allied interoperability, in-country sustainment and long-term industrial growth opportunities for Canada" — positioning the solution directly in line with the Royal Canadian Air Force's evolving defense and NORAD modernization priorities.
